Storytime Adventure Workshop (Grades 1-4)

Ignite your child’s imagination with our interactive Creative Writing Workshop! Through fun, hands-on activities, students will learn the fundamentals of storytelling, build confidence in their writing, and develop creativity. Perfect for grades 1-4, this workshop encourages young writers to create their own stories while learning valuable skills in literacy and communication.

Duration: 2.5 Hours

Activities Included:

Welcome and Introduction (15 minutes):

Introduction of myself as the author, a brief overview of my books, and what to expect during the visit.

Interactive Storytime (30 minutes)

Read one of my children's books to the group.

Engage students with questions throughout the story, encouraging them to predict what might happen next or relate the story to their own experiences.

Story Creation Activity (30 minutes):

Guide the children in creating their own simple story. Provide a template for them to draw and write their story, using prompts to spark their imagination. Offer help with ideas and encouragement as they work.

Q&A Session (30 minutes):

Allow the children to ask questions about the story, writing process, or anything else they are curious about.

Book Signing and Photos (30 minutes):

Sign copies of my books for the children and take group photos if desired. Children can share their stories with me, and I'll offer positive feedback.

Interaction with Teachers (30 minutes)

After the activities with the children, I will spend time with the teachers to discuss how to encourage a love for reading and storytelling in the classroom. Share tips on integrating books into the curriculum, suggest classroom activities that build on the themes of my books, and answer any questions they might have about fostering literacy. This session provides an opportunity for professional development for both me and the teachers, and to build rapport with the educators, principal, librarian, and other staff.
